Here's a little bit about me
My name is Katherine I am a BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist, I have spent the past 20 years working in a variety of different settings including; Criminal Justice, Education both Primary and Secondary, Social Housing and Drug and Alcohol Services. I am based in Greater Manchester and can provide therapy here and some surrounding areas. My passion is being able to help individuals to overcome their personal barriers and achieve their goals. I pride myself on offering a warm, empathic environment for you to be able to work through the issues you are facing at a pace that is suitable for you. I offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is an evidence-based practice used to treat depression and a range of anxiety disorders. CBT helps to break negative cycles of behaviour which is often triggered by a negative thought which in turn impacts how we feel, such as increased anxiety, or reduction in mood. How we then behave and respond to this thought is usually coloured by the way we are feeling such as, avoiding situations, withdrawing from relationships and other unhelpful coping strategies which remove the negative feeling in the short-term, this response then fuels the negative cycles of behaviour. CBT will help you to unpick these areas and learn more adaptive strategies to manage the problems you are currently experiencing.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Katherine Brooke
The focus of CBT is to to provide a safe collaborative environment which allows you to explore your difficulties and put strategies in place to overcome them through an individualised treatment plan.
CBT can be used to treat a variety of mental health disorders. I treat individuals aged 10 plus.
CBT is a type of talking therapy that allows us to work on the negative cycles we sometimes find ourselves trapped in. CBT works on the understanding that how we think, feel and behave are interconnected and by addressing each area we can start to understand the direct links between them. We can then start to develop new more adaptive strategies and in turn break the cycles of behaviour which are maintaining our current problems.
